There’s a saying that has grown in use
For the last ten years or so.
A colloquialism I find obtuse
I’ve disliked it from the “get-go”.
This expression sets my teeth on edge
Irritating right from the start
Its inception has irked me all along
Overuse has played its part.
From day one the origin of these words
Have reached far beyond first base
The arrival of such vernacular
Has become quite commonplace.
The utterance of this idiom
Has increased tenfold since dawn
There are other terms I much prefer
Their demise I daily mourn.
I’ll be much happier when the “get-go”
Becomes officially withdrawn.
