A successful women’s cricket match was played at the Pleasant Hills Recreation Ground on a Sunday in April 1948, to augment funds for the Town Queen (Miss Nola Gibson).
Match Results: The game ended in a draw, with each side scoring 30 runs. Notable scores included Miss A. Grunow (10 runs) and Mrs. C. Smyth (10 runs). Four men obliged by making up the full team, batting and bowling left-handed to keep things sporting.
